元スモール・フェイセスのロニー・レーンの呼びかけにより、1983年9月20日と21日にイギリス、ロンドンのロイヤル・アルバート・ホールで、多発性硬化症の研究活動を支援するチャリティー・コンサートが開催された。このコンサートはヤードバーズ出身の俗に言う三大ギタリスト、エリック・クラプトン、ジェフ・ベック、ジミー・ペイジが初めて一緒にステージに立つ歴史的なコンサートであった。当初はロンドン2公演のみの開催予定だったが、反響が大きかったため同年11月28日から12月9日までアメリカの9公演が追加された。スティーヴ・ウィンウッド(key, vo)はアメリカ・ツアーには参加できなかったが、ジョー・コッカー(vo)とポール・ロジャース(vo)が加わり、ロン・ウッド(g)が2公演、イアン・スチュワート(p)が１公演でスペシャル・ゲストとして参加している。
また、最終曲の'Goodnight Irene'には、自身の多発性硬化症が悪化していたロニー・レーン(vo)が登場し、オール・スター・バンドをバックに熱唱し有終の美を飾った。
コンサートの模様は、1983年9月20日のロイヤル・アルバート・ホール公演がCD、DVDで公式にリリースされているが、その他の公演も多種のブートレッグで聴くことができる。
なお、チャーリー・ワッツとロニー・レーンは、1977年にリリースされたロニー・レーン / ピート・タウンゼントのアルバム"Rough Mix"で、'My Baby Gives It Away'、'Catmelody'の2曲で共演している。また、ロニー・レーンは1967年にリリースされたローリング・ストーンズの"Their Satanic Majesties Request"の3曲目'In Another Land'（ビル・ワイマン作、リード・ボーカル）に、バッキング・ボーカルとして参加している。
※ARMSとは、”Action Research into Multple Sclerosis”の頭文字を取ったもので、「多発性硬化症への研究活動」の事。多発性硬化症は不治の病と言われ、時間の経過とともに身体じゅうの筋肉が硬化していき、最後には不随意筋である心臓が止まり死に至る。原因不明と言われ、遺伝体質にも関係なく突発的に発症する病気と言われている。

1983年9月20日、ロンドンのロイヤル・アルバート・ホールで行われた初日公演。全11回行われた公演の中で、当時唯一オフィシャル・リリースされた。1984年に日本でいち早くレーザー・ディスク[LD]仕様でリリースされ、その後アメリカ、ヨーロッパでもビデオ[VHS]、[DVD]等でリリースされている。本作は2008年オランダで[CD]、[DVD]仕様でリリースされた。

本作には、前掲2作のEric Clapton & Friendsの”The A.R.M.S. Benefit Concert”、Jimmy Page Eric Clapton Jeff Beckの”The A.R.M.S. Concert 1983”には収録されていない、《Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood》の'Hound Dog'と'Best That I Can'が収録されている。

ディスク1は、前掲のEric Clapton & Friends "The A.R.M.S. Benefit Concert"と同じ映像だが、冒頭にリハーサル風景とロニー・レーンのインタビューが収録されている。リハーサルでは、エリック・クラプトンがドラムを演奏する（いじくっている？）非常に珍しい映像を見ることができる。

本作は、1983年9月21日のロンドン、ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール２日目の公演が収録されている。初日9月20日との違いは、エリック・クラプトン・パートの'Blowin' Off the Way'、'Women Smile'、'Some Comes Across the Water'、'There's a River'、ジェフ・ベック・パートの'Beck's Bolero'、ジミー・ペイジ・パートの'Page '83'、'All of a Sudden'の計７曲。当初はロンドンの2日間のみの公演予定だったにもかかわらず、念入りにリハーサルを重ねていた様子がうかがえる。
