Below that, a second circle displays the Stones' stage instruments: Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards' guitars, Charlie Watts’ drum kit and Jagger’s microphone and harmonica – the latter measuring just a few tenths of a millimetre.

Music fans will once again be heading to their favorite independent record stores to snag one-of-a-kind releases on Nov. 29 for the 2024 edition of Record Store Day Black Friday.
The Rolling Stones’ Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out!, recorded during two shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden in November 1969, will be released on candy cane swirl vinyl to match the hat drummer Charlie Watts is wearing on the cover. The album is the first live album ever to reach #1 on the U.K. charts.
Jaquet Droz has unveiled its latest in a series of unique pieces that pay tribute to the Rolling Stones.
The new watch is dedicated to the 1978 album Some Girls.
That album was controversial for a number of reasons, but the unauthorised use of celebrity images on the cover led to legal action.
The cover was hastily redesigned, but this all led to the legend surrounding the album.
The unique piece is one of a series of one-off watches dedicated to different Stones albums.
The watch has a 43 mm red gold case and even has tiny gold instruments below the time-telling dial.
Fans can see Ronnie Wood’s Fender Stratocaster, Charlie Watts’s drums and Keith Richard’s famous five-string guitar with one string removed.
There is even a tiny gold harmonica next to Mick Jagger’s microphone.
Alexandra Richards — the daughter of Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards and supermodel Patti Hansen — is stepping into her father’s very large shoes and releasing a single, Page Six has learned.
Richards was married to visual artist Jacques Naude in 2019 at Lachat Town Farm in Weston, Conn., in front of her parents and her dad’s fellow bandmates, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts.
Today, Charlie Watts is almost exclusively known for his tenure keeping things steady behind the drum kit for The Rolling Stones. With Mick Jagger playing to the crowd up front, Keith Richards trying to steal his thunder on lead guitar, Bill Wyman looking for a bluesy groove, and Brian Jones constantly pushing things further, Watts knew his job was to hold things together at the back.

That was the inspiration for the making of this album, and this particular song, "It's Only Rock And Roll (But I Like It)," as the title track, summed it all up perfectly. My mission now was to find three musicians that I had worked with in the past and enjoyed their sensibilities. Those guys were: Eric Schermerhorn, our guitar player, who worked very closely with Iggy Pop, so I knew I would get harsh, hard, and relaxed electric power; Paul Ill on bass, who is essentially an R&B bass player who works very closely with Linda Perry, the brilliant producer; and, on drums, I did not go the Keith Moon route - I wanted someone more funky, on a Charlie Watts level,

The thing about Charlie Watts is that he makes everyone else look like they’re trying too hard. Rolling Stones band mate Keith Richards generally wins the title of Coolest Man Alive, but for my money Watts, who just turned 71, has always been the coolest Stone.
As such, Shine a Light doesn’t really go into the band’s history in great detail, being more focused on more immediate things. Well, things that were immediate in the 2000s, with the documentary now being something of a time capsule, especially since the band’s main drummer, Charlie Watts, sadly passed away in 2021 after having been a member of The Rolling Stones pretty much since the band’s inception.

“Alexis Korner, all his life, was a hub for young people – and particularly blues and obscure jazz players. He was a great one for bringing them on and listening to them. And one of those people was Brian Jones, in the early days. So I played with Brian and knew him socially through Alexis”

Wyman continued: “Mick [Jagger] and Keith [Richards] were totally wealthy, so they weren’t bothered, but me, Charlie [Watts] and Ronnie [Wood] were scraping by. Ronnie started to do art to feed his family. Anyway, I only started playing with them again in the hope it’d only be a couple of years, because I had all these other things I wanted to do.”

At the centre of composition is The Stones’ natural habitat: the stage. It includes a miniature engraving of all of the band’s instruments, Ron Wood and Keith Richards’ guitars, the minimalist drum kit of Charlie Watts, along with Jagger’s microphone and harmonica – the latter measuring a few tenths of a millimetre.

Keith Richards is, simply put, one of the greatest guitarists of all time; Rolling Stone has him ranked at fifteen. Richards envelops one into the music by his swimming guitar and the obvious influence of swinging blues. Though he can easily steal the spotlight (see: “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”), he is equally adept at providing a backdrop for Mick Jagger’s ripping vocals (see: “Wild Horses”). The guitar isn’t the only thing swinging on the stage at The Rolling Stones concerts; the rhythm section of Bill Wyman (bass) and Charlie Watts (drums) made the Stones one of the best bands to dance to.

Bill Wyman, former bassist of the Rolling Stones, recently disclosed financial struggles he encountered while with the band.
Wyman did note that some of the group’s members were doing better than the others. He said Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were wealthy; Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and himself were “scraping by;” and Brian Jones died with over 30,000 pounds of debt in 1969.

Shirley and Charlie Watts first met as students at the Royal College of Art in 1964 - before the Rolling Stones shot to stardom. Shirley was an accomplished sculptress and produced numerous artworks throughout her lifetime usually inspired by the animals she loved - dogs and horses. Shirley spent most of her time on their country estate in Devon where she established a renowned Arabian stud. Perhaps unsurprisingly she collected equestrian themed fashion items, for example an early 19th century purse beaded with an Arab stallion and assorted handbags from the 1950s onwards woven or embroidered with horses.
One of the Rolling Stones is in the building, I said to Rob. Let’s team up to find him. You take the European Theater and I’ll take the Pacific and we’ll meet up at metaphorical V-J Day. We did. No Stone.
And on the way there we found our Rolling Stone having tea outside the American Sector restaurant, which made perfect sense, since it was about 4 p.m.
And that’s how Rob and I got to meet Charlie Watts.

There’s a touching sense of nostalgia linked to Dan Auerbach’s label Easy Eye Sound. With a top interracial roster, Easy Eye is a credit to the Black Keys’ main man and his devotion to new talent. As a producer and co-writer, he’s doubtless absorbed much from the Muscle Shoals studio and Stax label stories. It’s no stretch to say that several elements in both setups endure today in Auerbach’s work. There’s also a sense of musicians working in tandem, not isolation, driven by drumming that’s never explosive. Percussive tension really can be found through restraint. Just think of Charlie Watts.

The Jazz in Schools Project, which I set up as a charity, ran from 1999 to 2001. My band visited primary and secondary schools to demonstrate jazz and we even had an item on BBC TV South East. Visits were funded from my CD sales plus donations.
Word was passed around the jazz community and double bassist Dave Green approached his friend Charlie Watts on my behalf. Charlie became a donor helping to fund visits to schools by my Septet.
Rolling Stones fans rejoice! The Life, the Times, and the Rolling Stones: The Authorized Biography of Charlie Watts … Charlie’s Good Tonight written by trusted family and band members’ friend Paul Sexton is now available in paperback and translated into several languages.

The Rolling Stones have long been famed for their "secret shows." One of those took place on June 8, 1999 when Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts, and company took the stage at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, a 1903 music hall in the West London suburb. In front of an 1,800-capacity crowd including such luminaries as Anita Pallenberg, Pete Townshend, Jerry Hall, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and Bob Geldof, the World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band strutted their stuff just days
