　”6人目のストーンズ”として知られるイアン・スチュワート。『ダーティー・ワーク』録音直後の1985年12月12日に心臓発作で急逝。享年47歳。

　『ダーティー・ワーク』にはステュを追悼し、11曲目にシークレット・ナンバーとしてステュがブギウギ調で演奏する「キー・トゥ・ハイウェイ」が収録されている。また、アルバム・クレジットの最後には、”This album is dedicated to Ian Stewart” ”Thanks, Stu, for 25 years of boogie-woogie”と記されている。

　チャーリーは、スチュのプロジェクト『Rocket88』を始め、ストーンズ以外の活動の多くをステュと行動を共にしている。ある意味、ストーンズのJazzyな要素を支えていたのは、チャーリーとステュと言える。合掌。

　レッド・ツェッペリンの4作目で、ロック史上に残る名盤。本作には正式なタイトルはなく、アルバム・ジャケットには一切のクレジットや情報が記載されなかった。 

　多忙なツアーを行っていたツェッペリンは、ローリング・ストーンズから借りた車載スタジオ「モービル・ユニット」を用いて録音を行った。同スタジオの管理人だったイアン・ステュワートを迎えてジャム・セッションを行なっていた際、たまたまジョン・ボーナム(dr)がリトル・リチャードの‘Keep a Knockin’のイントロを叩き始めたところ、ジミー・ペイジ(g)が即興のリフで応じ、そのまま発展させて15分後には曲の骨格ができあがった偶発的に生まれた曲。ブルース形式に則った3コードのシンプルながら強烈なロックンロール・ナンバーで、ペイジのギター・ソロの後から挿入されるステュのリトル・リチャードばりのピアノが曲の後半を盛り上げている。

　レッド・ツェッペリン6作目のアルバムで、新作8曲と未発表7曲の構成となっている。イアン・ステュワートが参加している‘Boogie with Stu’は、“Led Zeppelin IV”からのアウト・テイク。つまり、前掲の‘Rock and Roll’と同時期の録音となっている。ジャム・セッション風の録音で、正にステュと一緒に、ブギ・ウギの演奏をツェッペリンの面々が楽しんでいる様子が伺える。ペイジがマンドリンを担当したため、この曲ではプラントがギターを弾いている。

　ボブ・ホールは盟友ボブ・ブルーニング(Bob Brunning)やデイブ・ケリー(Dave Kelly)らとともに英国ブルース・シーンを牽引し続けたブルース・ピアニスト。1963年にJohn Lee’s Groundhogsでメジャー・デビューし、以降さまざまなグループで活動してきた。2014年にはRic Lee’s Natural Born Swingersにも参加しており息の長い活動をしている。

　本作は1995年にリリースされたボブのソロ・アルバム。2003年にはボーナス・トラック５曲(1990年のライヴ)が追加され、アルバム・ジャケットもリニューアルされた。

　本作は、ディック・サドハルター(tp, fgh)による1994年の作品。録音は5月と6月にそれぞれ2日づつ行われているが、メンバーは5月と6月ではそっくり入れ替えられている。アル・ゲイ(ts)は5月録音の4曲に参加している。8曲目の'My Heart Stood Still'では、デッィクとアルによるコール・アンド・レスポンスを聴くことができる。

　なお、同じく5月の録音には、チャーリーの盟友デイヴィッド・グリーン(b)と、1986年10月31日にドイツのベルリンで行われたジャズ・フェスティバルでチャーリー・ワッツ・オーケストラのピアノを担当したミック・パインも参加している。

　本作は、1959年にモダン・ジャズ・レーベルの名門プレスティッジからリリースされたハルのリーダー・アルバム。ピアノにはレイ・ブライアントが参加している。

　ジュールズ・ホランドは、元スクイーズのキーボーディストで、スクイーズ脱退後はバンド・リーダー、歌手、作曲家として活躍している。また、イギリスの人気音楽番組ジュールズ倶楽部の司会者でもある。その交友関係の広さからか、本作には実に豪華なゲストが参加している。スティング、ポール・ウェラー、ジョー・ストラマー、ドクター・ジョン、デヴィッド・ギルモア、マーク・ノップラー、ヴァン・モリソン、スティーブ・ウィンウッド、ジャミロクワイ、エリック・クラプトン・・・。正にアルバム・タイトル通りのスモール・ワールドのビッグ・バンドだ。特に本作を著名にしているのは、ジョージ・ハリスンの生前最期のレコーディング曲(2)が収録されていることだ。

　アレックスはロンドンを拠点に活動しているテナー・サックス奏者で、作曲家、アレンジャーとしても活動する多彩なミュージシャンであり、ファースト・コール・サイド・マンとして数え切れないほどのレコーディングに参加している。

　本作はアレックスのバンド《Bunch of Five》による、彼のセカンド・ソロ・アルバム。硬質で現代的な印象を与えるアルバム・カバーに反し、《5人の束》のバンド名通りオーソドックスなジャズ・スタイルで5人の結束感を感じさせるアルバムとなっている。
